February: Mexico City's Art Fair Season
Every February, Mexico City transforms into a focal point for contemporary art as it hosts its own art fair, attracting collectors, artists, and enthusiasts from around the world. I believe this is the perfect time to dive into culture and explore the city’s art scene, with multiple exhibitions and cultural events taking place across various venues.

Kurimanzutto
One of the most influential galleries in Latin America, Kurimanzutto is known for representing some of the most groundbreaking contemporary artists from Mexico and beyond. Co-founded by Mónica Manzutto and José Kuri, the gallery has a reputation for hosting ambitious exhibitions that push artistic boundaries. With its ever-evolving roster of artists and projects, Kurimanzutto is a staple of Mexico City’s art scene and this giant Japanese warehouse, back-of-the garden gem arquitectural structure by Alberto Kalach.

Jo-hs
Founded by Elisabeth Johs, Jo-hs is an independent art space that provides a platform for emerging artists to engage with local and international audiences. The gallery fosters an atmosphere of collaboration and experimentation, making it the perfect place to discover fresh perspectives in contemporary art.

Just a minute, please: El Minutito
A moment of joy at El Minutito. Designed by Mexican architect Lucas Cantú, this charming yet nostalgic café-bar blends the atmosphere of Italian stand-up bars with the timeless appeal of traditional Mexican cantinas. This place is a moment in time, custom-designed to every corner you see, and whether you’re in the mood for a morning espresso and a croissant or an evening vermouth and olives, El Minutito has become a place where strangers become acquaintances for a minute.

Masa Gallery
One thing I also love is the intersection of art and design, and Masa Gallery is a must-see. This hybrid space offers collectible design and sculptural artwork, offering exhibitions that feel welcoming to the eye and the rest of the senses. Co-founded by Age Salajõe, Héctor Esrawe, Brian Thoreen, Cristobal Riestra, Isaac Bissu y Roberto Díaz, the gallery has become a key player in Mexico City’s cultural landscape.

Peana
Blurring the boundaries between gallery, research, and experimentation, Peana presents a unique curatorial approach to contemporary art and design. Founded by Ana Cecilia Pérez Escoto, this forward-thinking space spotlights artists who challenge traditional formats and materials, making it a fascinating stop for those seeking innovative and thought-provoking works.

Lolo Miscelánea Editorial
A walking-stop by Lolo Miscelánea Editorial, an independent distributor of books and magazines focused on contemporary culture. Located in the Hipódromo neighborhood, Lolo is the ideal place to pick up a beautifully curated selection of publications, from artist books to niche magazines. Bonus you can watch while you get your coffee of choice.
